The much anticipated match of the African Cup of Nations between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt will be played today at 30,000 capacity Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria vs the Pharaohs of Egypt has been tagged by some football pundits as the game of the tournament as the two sides look set to start on a wining gear at the 2021 AFCON.

First ever meeting between the two sides date back to the 60s when the Pharaohs of Egypt were defeated 2- 1 by the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly encounter at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Since then both sides have gone to meet eighteen times with Super Eagles wining eight times, drawing five and losing five times as well.

While the Pharaohs of Egypt has won record setting 7 African Cup of Nations with a run of victory between 2008, 2009 and 2010, the Super Eagles has only won the continental silver wear just 3 times with their last victory coming in a 1 - 0 narrow win over Burkina Faso at the 2013 African Cup of Nations

The Super Eagles are without the front partners of Victor Osimhen, Watford, Odion Ighalo, Al-Shabab due to the latter's club involvement and the former sustaining a head injury, the Pharaohs of Egypt will be without Mohamed Abogabal and Ibrahim Adel after both tested positive for COVID-19.

The match will kick off 5:00pm West African Time.

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has sacked his Chief of Staff, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen.
