NIGERIA HANDS EGYPT FIRST DEFEAT OF AFCON 2021

Nigeria began their quest for African Cup of Nations 2021 with a 1 - 0 win over Mohamed Salah led Pharaohs of Egypt at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon. 

The Super Eagles opened the score first half when Moses Simon pressure led to Joe Aribo laying a fine past for Kelechi Iheanacho to finished from close range in the 30'mins of the first half.

The second half starts with Super Eagles being the more threatening side, coming close four times to extending the scoreline.

Kelechi Iheanacho missed a glorious chance to extend with a rebound from Ejuka shot.

William Trust-Ekong misread of the game left Mohamed Salah onside in what would have been an equaliser only for Super Eagles goalkeeper to make a save.

The win hand Nigeria top spot in Group D and hand the Pharaohs of Egypt nineth  defeat at the hands of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria next match is against Sudan while Egypt play Guinea-Bissau.
