Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has made known his intention to run for the office of the President in 2023.
Umahi made the disclosure at State House on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The governor’s visit to the Villa comes barely 24 hours after the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, met Buhari to inform him of his presidential ambition.
Emerging from the President’s office on Tuesday, Umahi disclosed that he discussed the issue with Buhari, who asked him to go and seek the support of the people.
Umahi said he is unfazed by Tinubu’s presence, saying that the contest is not about might.
The Ebonyi State governor defected from Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress last year.
